Quietly Faithful at Cape Spear Lighthouse | Original Acrylic Painting
This painting was created en plein air or on location at Cape Spear Lighthouse.
This iconic lighthouse is the most easterly point in Canada. The lighthouse overlooks the yawning Atlantic Ocean, and sits upon an impressively high cliff (with a very sharp drop off!). I loved how the hexagonal nature of the lighthouse led to amazing shadows. Almost three hours was spent on the rocks above the lighthouse, taking time to capture the brightness of the lighthouse, set against the deep blue waters.
This acrylic painting was created on handcrafted paper, using saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean to mix the colours. The painting measures approximately 5x7 inches and features deckled edges.
