Revealing Windows at Otterub Lookout | Original Acrylic Painting
This painting was created en plein air or on location at Otterub Lookout.
Otterub Lookout was a few hours from the artist residency, but it was worth every minute of the drive. This lookout is only accessed by boat or a trail. The trail led to a staircase, which brought travellers to the water’s edge - with a perfect view of this sea arch. I arrived in the mid morning, and had the challenge of painting the sea arch while the shadows gradually moved with each passing hour. One of my favourite features of this painting was capturing the light on the rocks and adding in the burnt orange of the seaweed along the shore!
This acrylic painting was created on handcrafted paper, using saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean to mix the colours. The painting measures approximately 5x7 inches and features deckled edges.
