T46B1B Tl'uk and Family | 12x12 inch | original watercolour
The Wild Orca Series is a collection of fine art watercolour paintings that embody the Pacific Northwest. This series is filled with all the moody greys, blues, and greens of the Salish Sea. Each one features a Southern Resident, Northern Resident, or Transient orca.
Tl’uk is a unique young orca, painted here as a new calf - due to the unusual light grey colouration. There’s been a handful of oher orcas born with the same grey appearance, sometimes these orcas reverted to a classic black and white appearance with age. The more serious course is that it might be the result of a rare genetic condition that leads to complications and a weakened immune system.
So let’s all keep our fingers crossed for this spunky little orca. Due to the grey colouration, you can see the eye of the orca and other markings much more distinctly. In this painting, Tl’uk is swimming with the pod of other transient orcas. There’s a beautiful teal wave that sweeps through the mid-section of the piece.
“T46B1B Tl’uk and Family” is a 12x12 inch original watercolour painting on fine Arches paper.
